So my old testament reading has continued, and I am now enjoying the story of Moses. And in doing so realize I need to buy a copy of The Prince of Egypt, think the kids would love it.
But I am actually going to discuss something I read in 1 Peter. Be ye holy; for I am holy 1 Pet 1:16
Peter is speaking of our new selves after being reborn. We are not to fall back on our former ways, but be changed by God’s grace. Love with a pure heart. As newborn babes, desire the milk of the word so you can grow.
That sounds like a lot doesn’t it? But is comparison to what Jesus did for us, I guess it’s pretty reasonable. He laid his life down for us, it makes sense that we should do the same for him. That’s not to say it’s easily done. Temptations abound – especially nowadays. Will we fail occasionally? Of course. But that is the beauty of God’s grace. We can mess up. Do the wrong thing. Say the wrong thing. Think the wrong thing. But we can repent of any of that and be forgiven thru the blood of Christ. What a relief! I know I’m nowhere near to perfect. Sure does make me feel better to know Jesus set up the best insurance policy ever in my name. The only cost is faith and obedience.
Yee Haw! How much better does it get than that???
